Me Time in Week 1

Well, yes, I did make time for me since the last post.

Saturday started with breakfast with David’s brother, sister-in-law and niece. I made cinnamon buns and quiche. Well, actually, the bread machine made the dough, then I made it into the cinnamon buns. I let them raise in the fridge overnight.

So while the buns and quiche were baking, I chopped and prepped my slow cooker chili. Just as I finished with that our guests arrived. Delightful!

Well, after all the cooking and entertaining, it was time for a break. Saturday afternoon, I skipped off to my favourite clothing store, Turnabout. My mother-in-law bought me two beautiful shirts with bicycles on them (one black button up blouse and one white pullover cardigan) for Christmas. They look great with jeans, but I’ve been trying to not wear jeans every day (maybe that’s another post … what-not-to-wear as a stay-at-home mom), so I wanted to fill the gap in my wardrobe. I bought a pair of slim black dress pants for $12! I love buying clothes there. Not just for the price, but because it’s environmentally friendly, I can walk there, and I’m supporting a local business.

With that checked off my list, I wanted an afternoon pick-me up at my favourite cafe, Chocolaterie de la Nouvelle France. Alas, it was still closed for the holidays. It was tempting just to pop in to Starbucks, but I fought the urge and walked a few blocks to another local cafe, Beans. I haven’t been there in a couple of years. It was the perfect spot to read and plan out some things for the year ahead.

Then, last night I went out for dessert with a friend at Sweet Revenge. It was my first time there and I had Tiramisu. It wasn’t the best that I’ve had (I’ve had a lot of Tiramisu), but I still enjoyed the experience. It is a cute little spot and I liked drinking tea from the China teacups.

So, I think for Week 1 of 2015, I did well. We’ll see how this continues …
